Hi Guys, I have on hand an R9 5950x and try to bench it on some multicores tests. Unfortunately every time I try to go below -90c the system hangs . Anyone experienced similar problem on Ryzen and ln2 ? also the IF cold bug as well nothing over 3600 on ambient test bench but with cold even less... wondering if is normality with those processors or just hit silicon lottery the way around cheers,

Yeah - Ryzen is bad about CB/CBB, ran into that with my AM4 stuff. You'll have to use a temp probe with the pot and manage temps with it like you would most Intels.
Certainly not like AM3+ FX chips where you can just go full pot and not worry about it.
Big thing is to figure out where the CB/CBB is with the chip you have and manage things from there.

Hi Bones, Ryzen isn't much fun to oc'd, isn't it? Cb 80/87c if to down 1600 lol

Hi Bones, Ryzen isn't much fun to oc'd, isn't it? Cb 80/87c if to down 1600 lol Maybe Dry Ice is the ticket. Not quite as cold, my pot usually runs (in the past FX processors) around -75c Pot fully loaded. LN2 can be a bit too cold on some platforms.

DICE would probrably work but if you know how to do it, Ln2 is more than manageable. Mac will tell you controlling temps with it is easy and he's right.
As long as you have a temp probe and know where it wants to bug out, you can keep it close to the bug out temp yet never reach it but takes practice in pouring to do it.
Once you get the hang of managing temps it's easy to do and Ln2 goes a very long way used like this.

yeah dry ice would be better for this particular chip. I've bench it only r15/20 pulling down timing as much I could but 3200mhz was the "speed limit" thanks for the help guys

Just don't neglect to give Ln2 a try with it too, you can really keep temps within a tight range with it but takes a little practice to do. Once you get the hang of it - EZPZ.

Yeah that's what I did, had to keep my temps steady to -85c, CCD 0 to x55 and CCD 1 x54.5. Any increase in cpu clock, bclk or infinity fabrics results in a crash. Okish for ambient wc but it didn't like otherwise
