Ended up winning a Rampage III Extreme Black Edition with i7 970 & 24gb ram & Noctua D15S. So I'm retiring the P6X58D-E has been a good board but I really wanted to go all out and have an exotic PC for myself, I enjoy X58 and you can't look no thurther than the Rampage iii from Asus especially the black edition they went all out. Board seems to be very sort after. X58 is still plenty for me plays all the games I want to play is fast and ddr3 is cheap as it gets. I've been wanting a D15 for a while now too should let me blast into that 4.4-4.6ghz range on air.
Should keep me happy till stock finally gets sorted out as was going to go ryzen myself this year ( well I do have a ryzen but I share it)

Hell yeah, nice win! Nothing wrong with X58. Still has plenty of horse power for 90% of the games out there.

x58 is a great platform. you have a decent CPU and enough memory. I still have an x58 PC here running with a 980x and also 24GB of memory. Windows is snappy. it'll do you good

Got the X5675 and X5660 here X5675 does 4.3ghz 1.3325v | 4.4ghz 1.3625v i7 970 will most likely be trash , but I'll bin it before dropping the x5675.
Memory that comes with this board is a 6 dimm kit of hyper X Genesis can't find any info on the IC have checked on all the IC links. khx1600c9d3k6/24gx 1.65v (double sided maybe) Idk if to keep my missmatched Gskill Ripjaws 3 kits all 3 different date codes/IC.i would like to run 3x8gb sever ECC type memory one day but idk what perticular stuff works well and would like high end 1866mhz stuff
Only issue I have with these old platforms is I've had lots of issues with Windows 10 especially with disabling Virtualization to get the system to actually boot, because MS simply don't care to fix it. Another issue I've come across is after I forcefully disabled Spectre and Meltdown via Regedit and deleting the microcode update in system 32 the system after 8 mins of idling will jump to 100% CPU usage and won't stop untill task manger is opened. Not a virus or anything as I did this on clean install also.

ya, I'm still running Win7 on mine. I wouldn't think W10 would do all that well.

My 970 was trash. There are good ones out there though. My x5690 does 4300 1.375 4400 1.4 4800 1.6. I didn't mess with microcode stuff.. just fed her volts and ran her for a long time lol. I honestly didn't have any issues the last time I ran it. I put a very early bios on it and she was super happy. Like running 3 different sets of ram happy with an overclock to boot. Its the most bipolar system I have ever owned.

Ended up scrapping the project. internet drops out over 192 bclock and i managed to kill my X5675 Whilst overclocking. i think i may have cracked the die as i think i may have screwed the D15 Down too much. Using the board for bench purposes now the D15 on my old board with X5660 at 4.4ghz till i get get another X5675.

What the hell is wrong with asking for something that's damaged. Your thinking too much into it, Vin was talking to Phenomtoo any ways XD pwaahaahaa.

Yep.
And asking for damaged gear usually isn't an issue and no harm in asking.

yeah i was pretty pissed about killing the X5675 it did 4.4ghz 21x210 Bclock 1.35v Vcore 1.365v IMC. with all 6 channels populated doing CL9 @ 1680Mhz 3600ish Uncore.
Swapped over to X5660 4.4ghz 1.375v Vcore + 1.3825v IMC 23x192 3400mhz ish Uncore.
i7 970 was bad. 4.3ghz max 1.4v
Board works 100% fine but the internet just dissaperes when going past 190 Bclock not sure if its a board issue since i belive the NIC is PCI and not PCI-E. Intel NIC

Are you sure its dead? I fed 1.6v for extended periods and she's good.. are you sure? Was it bare? I don't recall if you mentioned it..
Try moar IOH voltage too keep your network up, it should show up as NB in monitoring software I think.. Id have to unpack it and look its been a little bit.. but I haven't had that problem tbh.

x58 also had a thing where you need to increase your PCI frequency once your BLK got too high. On both my gigabyte boards I found once over 180blk I needed 105mhz PCI to keep it stable. on my EVGA Classified 3 that limit was met at over 200blk.

I cant see the picture is too small. do you have your LN2 jumper enabled? If not you should, even if you are running just air or water.
Edit:
I have it enabled on mine since the day I installed it. It sucks up a ton of sag, off the top of my head mostly QPI/VTT stuff..

CPU Wont post in 3 diffrent boards i have. 00 post Code, does get hot but barely, no bad smells.
CPU was lapped but i dont think i did a good job of it. possibly cracked the die when i mounted it. The outside potting rubber looked crap from the factory which makes me think it may have broke the seal and cracked the die. Will just order another one when i see them cheap. was looking at w3680 also but i dont know if there the better bins.
The dead X5675 and the X5660 i have now are HOT chips. i dont know the correct term for them. But they both peak at 85-90c when under IBT Very High @. The i7 970 peaked at just 75-80c max even with 1.4v under IBT very high.
Oh and as for the Rampage 3 black the LN2 Jumper is off

Those sound like a Q6600 I got from forum member once.. he won it from a contest Intel had. That chip did 4GHZ with dam near stock voltage, the downside it was so hot I could not control it. It was insanely good silicon. I ended up trading it for my first i7, a 965XE ES and I ran it on a UD5 for a few months.
Well.. that sucks! RIP sweet cpu

set 1.45v in bios and it boot loops the system. overtemp.
probaly good on cold.
