I got a phone call early Saturday that Shane had passed away in hospital. About 8 months ago he got this problem where he couldnt eat he would swallow food but it would come straight back up he went to the doctor and had scans to find out he had esophageal cancer just above the stomach and it was closing his esophagus off. He had the option of them trying to cut it out and using part of his stomach to repair it but that only has a 20% success rate and he didnt feel like he would survive the operation so he went with Chemo Radiation treatment. They also put a stent in his esophagus to keep it open so he could eat, the stent ended up cutting veins in his esophagus and he was spewing and shitting blood they had to take him down to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and operate to fix the veins. Then he developed a cancer on his cheek right next to his nose it blew up to the size of a ping pong ball they radiated it and got it down but about a month or two ago the scans were showing cancer in his Liver. He spent half of his time in hospital over the last 8 months and the last 6weeks in hospital when I went and seen him 2 of weeks ago he was a man defeated he said he didnt think he would ever be normal again and he was really weak and weighed 50Kg I left there thinking he wasnt going to last much longer.
It was still a shock for me when they rang and said he had passed I wish I had gone and seen him more but I have been busy moving out and getting my house sold.
You were a good friend Pete. You have nothing to be sorry about. I have known about Shane for as long as Pete has. He didn't want anybody to know about his condition because he didn't want anybody's sympathy. You know how he was, always the tough guy. I talked with Shane just a few days before he went into the hospital. Shane was a character. Never afraid to call a spade a spade, no matter the outcome. Coarse as they came, could cuss enough to make even the most hardcore sailor crumble to the ground sobbing. Yet even being the way he was, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. As far a benching goes, his place was laughingly referred to as 'the slaughterhouse'. He could kill unkillable hardware, and proved it. lol He was always a team player though, and a major supporter of this place and the rest of the team. I've known Shane for better than a decade now. We have history, both good and bad, but I always considered him my friend. I sincerely hope that he still considered me one also. I also hope he understood why I did what I did to preserve the peace here. He had a penchant for getting under people's skin. Whether he meant to or not I can not tell you. My decision to toss him was for the good of the forum and the team. It was not necessarily good for me. It is a regret I will have to carry until I meet him again. RIP buddy, you are in a better place now. Don't piss anybody off. I will meet up with you later, I guaranty it.

I met Shane at ExtremeOverclockingForums. We hit it off right away. He's been my friend and benching partner for over a decade. Setting aside any bad notes.... Shane and I made peace at EOCF in private messages months ago. Neither of us proud of the end outcome, but able to set aside differences and cherish the friendship we have.
Shane and I got along very well. He has that crazy mentality that I love in a person. Ready to go at a moments notice and he's give the shirt off his back for a friend in a heartbeat. I invited him to the team when I saw how much potential and interest he had in the hobby and that created a strong bond with his team. He would learn he had friends (Peter) very close by and just a hop skip and jump away, get together for some benching sessions.
Shane will always be in my heart. I cried when I saw the message in Admin chat. (like seriously cried) which was 24 hours before posted here in public section
Rest in peace young man. We will all be at the big benching table together again someday. now I'm crying again.... Good bye my man. Till we meet again.
I've known Shane a bit as well.. Met him back in the ClassicPlatform days.. we last talked on Discord about 9-10 months ago. I'll admit I didn't know him like some of you, I knew he wasn't well but not to any detail.
We've gotten in to a few scuffles in PM's in the past. But always worked it out, and usually was a misunderstanding in not reading sarcasm well on both sides. I was sad the day he had to leave. He reached out to me a lot more than I him. I wish I could have met him in person. It's funny how you realize that you take certain people for granted and don't realize until they are gone.
We lost someone special, I'm glad he's in a better place with no pain and I'm sure he's giving them hell up there.
Find the best whiskeys up there Shane, can't wait to meet you there and have a drink.

I missed this. Really sad to hear it! We exchanged PMs a couple months ago at the Bot when I learned about the cancer, did a little googling was some pretty evil stuff, extremely up beat on his side, been me would of been to stoned on pain killers to use a computer.
MrPaco "hey Pete its not called hoarding, its called connoisseur savior of all things computer related"
Vinster: for storms, we can still drain to the storm drains. there is a storm culvert in my back yard. everything drains to it (except sewer obviously)

Vinster: Thanks, 1st day for me starting to feel normal (Day 7)... Partner is still really sick (her Day 10).. Wife can't taste or smell... (her day 4).. daughter feels normal now (her day 10) but she had it the lighest...

zila1: I just want to keep everything in tip top working condition and clean at all times. I can't stand a dirty sump pit.
Aug 11, 2022 18:54:49 GMT -5
zila1: You are very fortunate to have that system grandfathered in. They are very strict now as to how and where you can drain storm water. I had a similar situation at my old 100 year old home.
Aug 11, 2022 18:53:30 GMT -5
austin86: I'm amazed I not been told to remove it, even more amazed that it works. We were told we can no longer have the gutters drain into storm drain witch I get. Its a big home and it was becoming a problem with all the rain we get here.
Aug 11, 2022 14:24:22 GMT -5
austin86: In my case my home is on a slight incline and whoever built it rigged up a gravity fed system that feeds the water table into a storm drain in the street. I been told I can't do anything with the system as its grandfathered in and is not longer legal.

austin86: zila1 My home is right under the water table and does not have a sump. There are some ways a round it granted they are not always a option or all the great.

ShrimpBrime: Dogs are always crazy in their own yard. Mine are no different and why I need a fence so bad.
Aug 11, 2022 7:08:04 GMT -5
zila1: Now they can't see me anymore cause of the fence. Her dogs are crazy.
Aug 11, 2022 0:34:25 GMT -5
zila1: But she put her new fence right along side my damaged fence. We both inherited problems but watcha gonna do? At least those trees are gone and now she has a nice privacy fence there. I'm glad cause her dogs were trying to eat me.
Aug 11, 2022 0:33:44 GMT -5
zila1: First she had to have a bunch of trees cut down around the area she wanted the fence. They were all in my yard working because the trees were growing in my fence and she wanted them gone. Now my fence is a mess.

zila1: ShrimpBrime: it never ends Jon. Just when you think you've got it all done something else happens. Home ownership is real. The lady next door to me just had her fence installed. She told me she's been waiting all summer for it.
Aug 11, 2022 0:28:24 GMT -5
zila1: Vinster: Oh my gosh I am so sorry you have that in your family. I will keep good thoughts for you. Covid is just horrible.
Aug 11, 2022 0:26:20 GMT -5
Vinster: only person without it is my 15yr old boy. he's keeping to his room isolating from the house plague. 0 out of 10... would not recommend... even for the weight loss.
Aug 10, 2022 23:28:57 GMT -5
Vinster: having covid sucks... whole family has it.. it's been taking 1 member at a time... we've been fighting in for 2 weeks and today we lost again today, my 9 month old now has it... this shit is awful.
Aug 10, 2022 23:27:51 GMT -5
Vinster: is there a side walk for you to take care of? only bummer with a fence is having to mow the other side of it
Aug 10, 2022 23:25:20 GMT -5
ShrimpBrime: STILL WAITING on the fence people. first it was 4 to 6 weeks. We are on week 7, I called last week, said two more weeks, this coming week I'll be calling again on week 8 then. FML. I need the fence so bad. Having a corner lot, I cant' scratch my balls.

ShrimpBrime: I got like this never ending list of shit. I miss renting sometimes. Like I had to charge my AC. Not that it's hard, but it takes time and money. Man a land lord gets to deal with that stuff lol. Ah yeah.
Aug 10, 2022 22:15:49 GMT -5
ShrimpBrime: Me too. My wife has changed the house lettering 3 times. Rearranged the living room and dining room a handful of fingers already. I've replaced a lot of outlets. We are saving to get the Fuse box updated to a Breaker panel.
