Is Running your CPU faster than anyone else because of better cooling and also getting better scores , good overclocking ? Just curious because I have seen it quite a lot on BOT. I am not using DICE , yet , but there is no way I can get their speeds. I can beat some of their scores on 4 or 500 MHz lower.
I have to overclock the old fashioned way instead of relying on "brute force" My full load temps on most benches exceed over 30 and I am using single stage (obviously not as good as DICE ).

OC is limited to cooling whether a better air cooler or LN2 just the nature of the beast, efficiency is more dependent upon knowledge. OC is also highly dependent on the quality of the sample and the accompanying components as knowledge becomes closer to equal, thus binning.

Most people don't know or don't care to dial in their efficiency for every single chip. I generally only do the bare minimum for tweaks since it's not worth the time to push a crap chip for a couple extra points or a golden one without the best cooling possible.

Think of it like this; If you get your efficency figured out for good results as is, just think of what you can do by using your tweaks along with subzero temps in use.
Some guys will brute force it as you put it while never really bothering to tweak much, it's the ones that do both, tweak and freeze that really stands out vs the other guys.

Nice,
Well, I suppose I dont have to worry much about tweaking for my I7-8700K. 5.6ghz on ambient with 1.42vcore. 6.35ghz spi32m, 2-2 on Dice. 4933/14-13 mems.
BRUTE FORCE - at a price. Not all HW is the same.
Recently I am seeing several threads of members bragging and talking about horse races.
I have to remind that what we do is called TEAM BENCHING. We do not race each other.
Check the scores of opponents and fight them.

I tended to focus on efficiency when working with things, mainly due to being restricted to ambient cooling methods 99% of the time. I take it as an extra bit of bragging rights to beat a subzero cooled score with an all in one cooler, but on the flipside, I also realize that I may have spent 1-2 weeks getting that result, while they may have only had a few hours, or it was more of an "already frozen, run the bench once or twice to get a score" kind of thing.
fTW was someone who's scores I always wanted to beat back in the day. Never did accomplish that, but I got damn close with the 780 Classified several times. Getting that 575.09MHz out of a P5E took months of work and numerous sub zero runs, but I'd argue it's one of the happiest things I've done, doubly so since I was just a hair off of beating Christian Ney's best with that board.
