Just seems they seek attention or something more so then seeking help.

Esp when you see they probrably don't have a clue in the first place. Someone either calls them out on it legit or makes them look stupid and they start pissing all over everything in response like the piss-cat (Ocelot) in Archer.

My "favourite" thing is when someone's trying to work towards a budget build (because they only have so much money), and is trying to maximise what they can do with the funds and they get the following two replies:
- stop being a cheapskate and get these two things that are twice the cost (but only add a 10% benefit), and - recommendations that definitely won't do anything to help out with the intended purpose - Bonus third one of "buy used gear"
You see it fairly often in music tech forums, especially the recording side of things. Someone asks for a basic, inexpensive but good microphone to do podcasting or sounding better on voice chat and there's always the jerk that recommends the Neumann. You don't need a $3k microphone in most cases...
I've come across as hostile in some help threads I've started in the past simply because people went for generic replies instead of the intended purpose - I've run into this all the time with BOINC threads for example, where so many push a cheap server build without caring about the original bit of "I want low power consumption and good processing efficiency". A server pumping out 400W of heat is going to be off more than on in my place, as that would add 50% to my power bill (288kWh per month is more than half our current power bill)... But a few Odroid N2+'s will barely even be month to month variation at 26kWh give or take... Sure, they won't put out the same kind of work, but supporting a project is supporting a project..

There's this joke about forums:
What's the difference between a forum in America, Israel and Russia? On an American forum you ask a question and get an answer. On an Israeli forum you ask a question and get a question in response. On a Russian forum you ask a question and you get a long and thorough answer why you are such a d#$%head
Well, sometimes this happens because the topic starter didn't read a single FAQ before asking and is just wasting other peoples time. But in general this joke is not a joke.

Let me think about all that.......
American forum:
The proper response is "This is why asshole"! Israeli forum:
I didn't know the Israelies were Jeopardy fans! Russian forum:
TBH I've always heard in Russia you don't ask the question; the question asks you....
