Dont know if I kept theses boards in storage for too long or what. Wanted to run through some AM2 chips First up; My Asus M4A79 Deluxe: When booting up says Time n Date not set in Bios, OK I go into bios to set them... No good. Every time I try to change any of the digits in Time or Date it immediately gos back to "0" when I hit enter. So I tryed to boot up and just change date n time when installing OS or even after OS install. Problem is when at post screen it wants me to go back into bios or set default n continue. So I hit Continue but it wont boot to CD/DVD . Would flashing the BIOS fix that? Will give it another go before putting it up to trouble shoot after team cup.
Second up: DFI L/P DK 790FXB-M2RSH: No matter what CPU or ram I try in it, it will only power fans n such but no boot. ERROR codes stays on 88. I tryed powering WITHOUT HD/DVD and then no ram and then no GPU and the error code shows the same. How would I go about trying to Flash the BIOS if it wont even post?
Meanwhile; gonna pull out a couple of other AM boards. and see how those go...

88 code on the DFI is a dead board. No RMA or repair so toss it.
New battery in M4A79.

88 code on the DFI is a dead board. No RMA or repair so toss it. New battery in M4A79. That really sucks about the DFI Will test M4A79 with new battery. However in the mean time the drama continues as well as my luck. Next one: MSI DKA790GX Platinum when click the power it acts like something is shorting it out, kept testing swopping out components then wouldnt you know it, I hear a very low faint sizzle up near the PS/2 ports. Something fried, Cant see what but when I sniff in that area I get that distinct fried circuitry smell. what in the he11 is goin on?!?! on to the next one...

Flash that bios then if you can.
Mosfets are near the PS/2 ports. Typical MSI board.

Nah. 1 is good. 3 or 4 extra bios chips though. lol I have pretty good luck on bios's though. Only time I seem to kill them is benching ram speed, which is the most likely time you would. Fortunately, I don't bench ram speed that often.

Ordered... frank, you took the words right out of my mouth, if i can do it you should be able to piss it in, and one of the easy things with it is if it doesnt flash right and write the bios properly and you put the bios chip in it wont boot coz theres nothing to read, ive had that happen to me a few times but its been my fault not using the steps right on the programmer to read write and verify properly and look down the bottom of the page, you can buy different adapters to flash chips that are soldered on the board and non removable but they make it an expensive item if you get all the adapters with it

wondering whether thatll work on my EP45T EXTREME pete, flash the bios might fix that power on off issue its got , the boot loop thing, coz all i got now is the trusty P5WD from brad in that comp we had in CP ages ago, DFI x48 dead, P5q3 dead, gig p35 and 45 dead, fm2 f288x dead, if i had the money id be onto this like a rat up a drain pipe, i do miss the DFI X 48 and Extreme tho, especially the DFI, that board had balls, i accidently bent 3 pins , i straightened them but wasnt booting right then pete straightened em and it was good and after while 1 ball broke off the worst pin www.ebay.com.au/itm/122012591057?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Getting the additional adapters could be worth it at least for me since I run so many different platforms/boards from old as dirt to new.

All of the adapters are not really necessary. Only a couple are.

Yep I only got the one for the Gigabyte soldered in chips. Shane powering on and off cycling tends to be a power problem not a bios problem.

I am absolutely bating 1000 with AM2/2+ boards. Jetway installed fine no issues proceed on... anything past 230fsb BSOD. OK no biggie only doing speed bench anyway. After one bench run dam thing wont even boot up at stock speeds Cleared CMOS...Power on...BSOD...HD total corruption!!! Moving on to the next: Asus M4N78 Pro, not a great OCer but a decent one, should be able to get the needed job done; If it holds up. If not on to the next, a Biostar board Running out of boards here
