I almost got killed in a 440 Duster when I was a kid. I lost control of that bastard. The ass end came around on me during a run against a vette. My shorts went from brite white to dull brown.

lol. I bet they did Eddie!!
It's beast. Carbs need tuning though. It runs a little lean and the idle his quite high.

The one I had I ran 3" straight pipe all the way out the back and she was jacked up. Air shocks in the back. Could lift the front end quite easily. I laid a patch for two blocks with it with a cop behind me all the way. He stopped me and asked...."watcha got under the hood?". No ticket given. He was a gear head. LOL

32000KM on the clock and my bike (2015 Yamaha R3) was starting to show some minor issues (rough idle, poor gas mileage). Re-synced the throttle bodies and that helped a bit but I noticed they were off by quite a bit though and pretty low. Decided to pull the valve cover and give it it's first valve inspection today and I'm pretty sure I found the problem. All the exhaust and one intake are too tight, exhaust on #2 are especially bad at around half the minimum clearance (Int. 0.11-0.18mm / Ext. 0.21-0.30mm). Good thing I didn't put it off until the 42000KM interval in the manual. Luckily I could re-use one shim on another valve but I still need to buy four new ones for the rest. Going to see if the local dealer has them in stock or just order them up online, they sure are expensive little bits of metal @ $8-9 each. Also got a new rear tire to throw on it, same as what's on it, Michelin Pilot Street Radial. Nice touring tire got about 18000KM's out of the current one with 2.5-3mm tread depth left in the very center.

ok, this is cool. I knew the premise of a carb, but this is cool. Fast Fwd to 7min to see the clear carb in action
I love this guys dad. my dad wasn't mechanically inclined. I had uncles that were, I really wish now I had asked more questions as a kid...

Got the valve adjustment all done up, everything went good. Synced up the TB's and it runs great, the valvetrain's all quiet and it starts almost immediately now. Intake vacuum went from 5.5in.Hg to ~8in.Hg on my gauge (2ft hose, so only good for reference). Still need to take it out for a test ride and make sure I don't need to replace any gaskets, but so far so good.

Nice car..........but don't bring your street car to the track with just big meats on it. It'll tear up your rear drive train. No safety loop either. How'd that car get through tech?

Yup, I was gonna say the same thing. It's not tuned for those runs either. That engine sounds weak to me for what it is. But it is a very nice car.
Edit: It sounds internal to me. Cam problem maybe.

At the beginning of the video he says they're off to Barona. That has to be an 1/8th mile track. I used to use the short tracks just for quick test runs on different setups. www.baronadrags.com/Yup, it's an 1/8th mile track. Edit: honestly, my old Duster would have left him in the Dust. By the time I was coming out of second all he would have seen was assholes and elbows. . He ain't got that baby tuned right.

I would love to swing that beast around some s turns. Can you imagine breaking her loose hard on a turn? The kids call it drifting today. We used to call it breaking loose.

I just want to light it up at a stoplight once or twice. Once or twice? You'd keep doing it until there's no tires left to burn off of it. BTW a stop sign works too.

I remember when I had my 70 Cuda lighting up the tires til daylight turned to night. I had a cop behind me once when I lit the tires up and he couldn't find me in the smoke. I left him there trying to figure out what had just happened. I pulled into a Jack in the box and was eating a burger by the time he figured out it was time to go home. ROFLMAO. He actually had to use the spot lights on his pillars to find his way out of the smoke. ROFLMAO.

Fabbed up a new pipe for my 2 stroke bike for some practice. It's more appropriately sized than the old one so it should work better. Welding 1/32 sheet with a mig is not a particularly fun experience and the welds don't look nice at all, a lot of the joints didn't need much if any filler so it ended up just stacking up on the outside for the most part. Oh well, it still looks cool and if it works, it works.

Nice pipe. Interested in any improvement in the powerband. Thanks. Just waiting for it to dry up a bit before testing since the brakes pretty much stop working when wet. The belly's about 40% larger in diameter and the whole pipe is about 8" shorter. With the old pipe it would top out around 8000rpm or so this one should theoretically allow it to rev out more, though the piston skirt on the intake side may need a little trim for more duration.

Did some initial testing and it was a bit underwhelming as it was so I went and added about 40 degrees of intake duration (stock is only like 110-115). That opened it up considerably, it's got more power everywhere after upjetting it a few sizes and it looks like it wants more but I need to buy more jets.
