Picked up a few freebies the other day and got to testing this morning. Right away the system tested indicated a problem which it seems was a bad CPU (3570K ) so popped in an i3 and tried again. This time it booted but now it seems to have dead USB ports, nothing USB related to a keyboard or mouse works and it goes to the BIOS screen and that's it. Will not go into the BIOS and doesn't respond to the keyboard. The board is a Gigabyte Z77 UD5H and I believe it's trashed, probrably got hit by a power surge and that did some damage. I guess it's possible to reflash the BIOS and see if that fixes it but I'm not going to worry about it alot if it doesn't, I'd probrably toss the board and go from there. With this one I did get a nice case, good PSU and some good RAM sticks too at least. Have two other setups to test and see what's up, one's an AM2 with a 9600 CPU and the other is a run-of-the-mill pre-built Acer machine I took the CPU out of to get this one working. Here's a shot of the one I was working with this morning.

Oh yeah. I'd be washing out that case and then give it a nice polish. Nice Bones.

Definitely worth it, that was a high dollar case in it's day and this one is in pretty good shape overall. Not exactly sure what I'll do with it in the end but at least it's here and I can make something of it. Already have the X5 cube case in use as my daily and the wife's build is what she wanted as well so.... We'll see. EDIT: Just found it. www.newegg.com/black-orange-trim-nzxt-phantom-atx-full-tower/p/N82E16811146129

Thanks guys. I'll probrably use the board as a tester for CPU's, GPU's and the like. This way I'm not risking anything of real value trying out suspect items that could otherwise kill a good setup.
I do have a few cards I need to work on and it will come in handy for that purpose.

The case cleaned up almost like new, has an issue or two but nothing of any seriousness. One of the fans has a broken blade but it's one of the smaller 80mm fans, easy to replace. Blew it out and cleaned up the outside, looks really nice! I don't really have a use for it or even room to keep it around so I believe I'm gonna give it to someone that would appreciate it. The price was right for me and should be for them too, this guy would love to have it and do something with it. Two more machines to checkout and I'm done. One has a nice smaller case, the board isn't worth bothering with (Acer board) and the other is an AM2/AM2+, one that's at least an OC'ing type of board. It's case is a Lian LI but one of the crappy ones that lays flat (Business style case) and takes up alot of space in doing so and it's not in too great of shape either.
